Since the release of XenForo 1.0 in March of this year, we have been working hard to add more functionality to XenForo, in order to deliver a forum system that contains more of those features that we feel, and customers have told us, are necessary to run a successful, state-of-the-art forum. The release of XenForo 1.1 today sees the completion of this round of feature development. After five beta versions, we are sufficiently confident in the stability of XenForo 1.1 to move the process forward to the Release Candidate stage. What is a Release Candidate? After a number of beta releases, the functionality of the product should be complete and the rate of bugs being reported (should) slow to a trickle, allowing the development team to work through the backlog and reduce the number of bugs to a handful. We have now reached this point in the development of XenForo 1.1.0, so the time is right to produce a release candidate. With the first round of bug fixes complete, we are now ready to release the second beta version of XenForo 1.1.0. This new version resolves several commonly-reported bugs, such as minor incompatibilities with PHP 5.2, problems with assigning thread prefixes to forums and defining default prefixes, upgrade errors, errors in HTML email and a variety of others that you can review in the Resolved Bugs Reportsforum. Following API changes by Google and Facebook, we have updated the interfacing code in XenForo in order to allow it to continue to integrate with services provided by these Internet giants. There are a handful of other bug fixes included, and we recommend that all customers upgrade to this new version, which contains minimal template changes and should be a painless update.
