With XenForo 2.1 now in beta testing, and a year having passed since XenForo 2.0 became our stable, supported release, it is time to talk about our ongoing support for XenForo 1.5. XenForo 1.5 is now considered a legacy product and is no longer in active development. We will continue to support version 1.5 until May 31, 2019, but after this time no further maintenance releases are planned and we may direct you to upgrade to a supported version in order to provide technical support. Once the active support period has passed, we will only release new XenForo 1.5 versions if security flaws are identified. Today, we continue the beta stage of XenForo 2.1 with Beta 3. This release fixes a number of bugs found since the previous releases. This release also includes the same XSS security fix included in 2.0.11. It also addresses a separate 2.1-specific XSS issue that was reported to us by @batpool52! We strongly recommend anyone testing 2.1 during this beta period upgrade as each beta version is released. Today, we are releasing XenForo 2.0.11 to address a potential security vulnerability. We recommend that all customers running XenForo 2.0 upgrade to 2.0.11 or use the attached patch file as soon as possible. The issue is a XSS vulnerability. XSS (Cross Site Scripting) issues allow scripts and malicious HTML to be injected into the page, potentially allowing data theft or unauthenticated access. Specifically, the issue relates to specially crafted text entered into messages and output using the structured text system (used in profile posts and comments). Hot on the heels of yesterday's XF 2.1.0 Beta 1 release, today we bring you Beta 2 in order to squash some significant bugs reported since the initial release. Significantly, as we reported yesterday, it was discovered that our JSON conversion did not reliably work in all cases, especially if you upgraded using the web UI. As this has caught a number of people out, we are attempting to resolve the issue automatically in Beta 2 rather than requiring you to restore from a backup or fix it manually.
